The Tesco retail and residential building in Woolwich, London, has undergone a major recladding project. Led by Willmott Dixon Construction Limited and executed in collaboration with architectural practice Bickerdike Allen and facade specialist Sorba Projects, the initiative combines iconic design and advanced engineering with strict safety compliance. This high-profile, large scale project spanned three years and encompasses a Tesco superstore plus 259 homes acrosss 17 storeys, plus basement parking.
Specification built on experience
The project was driven by the need to replace outdated, non-compliant cladding systems that no longer met UK fire safety regulations. The focus was on installing a facade system that adhered to BS 8414, Approved Document B, and other relevant safety standards.
